The rodeo in Wyoming represents so much more than just the excitement of the event—it’s a celebration of western and cowboy culture, which has deep roots in the region. I’ve always had a profound respect for the traditions and the grit that come with this way of life. The skill and resilience of the cowboys and cowgirls, the community, and the history are all elements I wanted to capture in my photography. However, while I appreciate the strength and spirit of the rodeo, I also believe that horses and bulls deserve to be respected and not used simply for human entertainment. For me, it’s important to focus on the human stories, the bond with the land, and the energy of the event, without highlighting animals in a way that might feel exploitative. The heart of the rodeo lies in its culture, the people, and the connection to the West—this is what I strive to capture through my lens.
